Thank you for visiting this page. In 2021/22 the Trafford Planning Committee granted a temporary extension of one hour to the permission to use the lighting on the Hockey Pitch. This was granted, and we used the lights until 9.00 pm, an extension of one hour. We already have permission to use the pitch until 9.00 pm, which works in the summer, but is unsafe in winter.  We engaged with our neighbours, members and planning staff at Trafford Council and lodged a planning application which is live on the Trafford website under reference 111354/FUL/23. The application has two strands:

1. To replace our ageing Metal Halide lights with state-of-the-art LED lighting from world leaders Musco.

2. We seek to make permanent the temporary permission, 104039/VAR/21, which harmonised the use of the pitch with the lights. This permission ended on the 30th September 2022. The changes we request will enable the pitch to be used until 9.00 pm from Monday through to Saturday. Monday to Friday sessions under lights after 8.00 pm would be restricted to training. Save that a small number of matches, four per annum, would be allowed on Friday evenings. On Saturday, matches would be played up to 9.00 pm; on Sunday, we propose reducing the lighting hours with the curfew brought forward to 6.30 pm. 

We are not seeking to extend the hours of pitch use.

Bowdon Club have engaged with Trafford Planners in a consultation process, reference PREAPP/01334/22, which has been lengthy but valuable.
